Have you ever thought to yourself..I want to see Europe, but I do not want to spend the money? Me too. If you want to see the beautiful architecture, and the culture of Europe but do not want to spend the cash or go the Distance, go to Montréal! In this post I will tell you how to spend 72 hours in the city during the summer. Traveling to Montréal from Boston, MA, is about five hours taking I-84. For comparison Albany, NY to Montréal is only three hours and thirty minutes. Montréal is a beautiful city and can easily be a weekend trip or a week long trip.
The Montréal Botanical Garden is a must do when going to Montréal! The garden is 190 acres of flowers, statues, green houses, vegetable gardens, and my favorite part the insectarium! If you enjoy being outside you will love the gardens! You could spend an entire day here if you have the time. Adults are charged $21.00, students pay $15.25, ages 5-17 pay $10.50, and seniors pay $19.00. Montréal residents get discounted prices. They are open Saturday though Wednesday at 9:00AM to 6:00 PM and Thursday through Friday 9:00AM to 7:00PM.

The Notre-Dame Basilica offers walking tours and I would suggest about an hour and a half to fully take it in. Notre-Dame Basilica is located in Old Montréal. This area is loaded with amazing architecture, shopping, and great food. This 1656 Cathedral is open from 8:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday, 8:00Am to 4:00PM on Saturday, and 12:30PM to 4:00PM on Sundays. The gothic style cathedral is a nonprofit organization and runs off of the entrance fees. For anyone over the age of 18 it costs $10.00, 7 through 17 is $5.00, and any child under $6.00 is free.

The La Grande Roue de Montreal has the best views of the city. It is located within the old port area and offers very cool food trucks and festivals during certain parts of the year. Check it out on TripAdvisor for good deals! There are different cabins that can fit up to 8 people. The wheel takes about 20 to 30 minutes per ride.

If you want to ultimate skyline view of Montréal Mount Royal park is the spot! There is parking all around the base of the park, with multiple entrances. Once you get to the top there is a museum type building where there are restrooms and a café. The best part about Mount Royal, is that it is free!
5. BAGELS!!
If you go to Montréal you need to try 1 or 2 or 3 bagel places! Montréal is famous for its bagels. They are thinner and more dense compared to traditional New York bagels. They are always baked in a wood fire and have a larger hole in the center. They bagels alone are worth the trip to Montréal!
Great Bagel places to check out!
