There is nothing better than fall in New England. Imagine yourself walking around, there is a cool breeze in the air. You have a hot coffee or preferably a hot chai tea latte in your hand. There is a crunch under your feet and all around you is the colors of autumn.

I believe where you grow up, to yourself, is the best place to live, but I have to say New England is actually the best place to live. No, there are no palm trees, or world renowned fashion shows, but there is fall. If you have never experienced hot cider, honey sticks, and cinnamon sugar donuts I think a trip to New England should be on your list.

Pictured above are mostly coffee shops and apple orchards around New England, including Book and Bar in Portsmouth, NH, Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, MA, Kennebunkport, ME, and Front Street Cafe in Salem, MA. All of these towns have cute downtown areas that are extremely walkable.

All of these places are just day trips from Boston and reachable by car or train! When you come to visit New England in the fall here are the must dos!

  1. Go apple picking. There are hundreds of orchards, but my favorites would have to be, Applecrest farms , Cider Hill farms, and Smolak farms.

  2. Visit Salem, Massachusetts. Salem is a hot bed of fun activities. spooky stores, and delicious food! Some people love the crowds in October and others shy away, but it is a must if you are visiting New England. While in Salem, see The House of Seven Gables, Salem Witch Museum, Essex street, and take advantage of all the halloween themed fun!

  3. Go to coastal towns like Portsmouth, NH and Kennebunkport ME. Coastal towns have so much to offer in the summer and in the fall! You can get not only a great coffee in either of these cities (Book and Bar in NH and Dock Square Coffee house in ME) but amazing seafood!

  4. If you do not want to leave the city, Boston has so much to offer, from the commons to the North End food and culture thrive with every turn.
