I am sure most of you are at the point of insanity and I would like to let you know you are not alone. When everything closed down due to the Corona virus, I went from thinking it wouldn't last, to freaking out about keeping myself busy, and finally to appreciating where I am and what I was given. Moving to Maine was not easy and still shows its difficulties, but I could not be luckier to be "stuck" in such a beautiful place. While quarantined Dominic and myself have discovered many amazing trails that are open and provide great scenery and fresh air. In this post I would like to encourage you to get outside and enjoy nature! I am not a medical professional and do not claim to know all the facts, but I do know that fresh air is better for you than being stuck in your house, and that the virus is caught easier in confined spaces. That being said, here are the places we have discovered!

Our newest and favorite trail is the Eastern trail. This trails runs about 62 miles, but we particularly enjoy the 8 mile stretch from Saco, ME to Cape Elizabeth, ME. This photo was taken in Scarborough, ME.

Cascade falls in Saco, ME is a very small trail with a beautiful reward! The trail is only 0.3 miles and the water fall is at the beginning, so you could just pop in for a quick photo.

This photo was taken in Laurel Hill cemetery in Saco, ME. I am aware cemetery walks are not everyone's favorite trail, but this one has amazing views of the Saco river and daffodils for days.
Saco health preserve is a 2 mile long trail. It is a colorful board walk that leads you through beautiful atlantic white cedar trees and marsh area.

The Fore River Sanctuary is a 5.6 mile long trail with tons branches that go off onto other trails. This path also has a waterfall, but it is not as glorious as the one at Cascade falls. Follow the Jewell falls path to see the falls. This sanctuary lives in the heart of Portland, ME and is a great addition to the city.
Depending on which city you are in the beaches are open! Lots of beaches for example, Kennebunk beach, Middle beach in Biddeford, Old Orchard beach, Scarborough beach, etc. are all open and can be walked on! This is a clip of a beach in Kinney Shores, which is a section in Saco, ME.
Get outside, find the best in these hard times, and live for the adventure!
Check out Maine trail finder for more details on all of these trails! They also have a great Instagram where you can see and discover more about Maine's nature from home!
